August 6th to the 12th in Montana

I will be at Upper Canyon Outfitters again this August. Come on out and fish the Ruby River with cane rods. Donna at Upper Canyon Outfitters has a nice package put together including 2 days guided and a backdoor tour of the Sweet Grass Rod Shop.

You will be offered the option of finishing your own cane rod! NEW THIS YEAR: Leonard 39L. The rod is a very smooth casting 7’-6” 4 weight. I plan to make the blanks from blond cane and bright hardware to match the original Leonards. If you want a flamed blank with blued hardware you need to let me know by June 1st. I have developed a syllabus for the rodcrafting course, which will involve 1-2 hours each day finishing out your cane rod blank. For only an additional $600, you can finish out your own cane rod and be using it on the gorgeous Ruby River by the end of the week! You'll have a memorable week, and your own cane rod to bring you a lifetime of additional enjoyment. The class fee includes all rod components, bag, case, materials and tuition.

There will be plenty of bamboo rods to fish with if you don’t have one of your own.

I can personally attest to the lodge: everything about it is incredible. The owners, guides, food, surroundings and fishing are fantastic. The Ruby alone offers an angler the chance to catch 6 species: Rainbows, Browns, Brookies, Cuts, Cutbows and Grayling. In addition, the lodge has access to some very prime private water as well as the wealth of public water in the area.
